New York State Police from the Brewster Barracks initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 684 after observing the driver of a 2019 Nissan Sentra operating as a taxi service commit an infraction on Friday, Dec. 6 around 9 a.m. in Southeast.
Initial investigation with the driver led to probable cause to search the vehicle, according to police. The passenger, identified as Thomas King, 26, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was found to be in possession of approximately 95 decks of heroin, police say.
King was arrested and charged with the following:
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class B felony
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a Class B felony
King was arraigned before the Town of Patterson Court and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 secure bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Thursday, Dec. 19.
